165 Boxes Nagaya is a contemporary row house complex completed in 2022 in Fuchu, Tokyo. Designed by renowned architect Kazuhiko Namba and Kai Kosakusha, this innovative residential project reinterprets the traditional Japanese nagaya typology for modern living. The design comprises multiple compact units arranged in a linear configuration, each representing a distinct architectural expression. The project exemplifies thoughtful urban densification while maintaining individual residential identity. Through careful spatial planning and material selection, the architects have created an exemplary model of contemporary shared housing that respects both communal values and personal privacy in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
