Inari-yu Nagaya is a contemporary residential and commercial mixed-use building completed in 2022, located in Tokyo's Kita Ward. Designed collaboratively by Yuan Architects and Sentou to Machi, this project thoughtfully integrates traditional Japanese townhouse typology with modern urban living. The building exemplifies sensitive adaptive design that honors neighborhood character while meeting contemporary functional requirements. Its name references the historic public bathhouse culture integral to Tokyo's residential districts. This work demonstrates how architects can create meaningful community spaces by balancing heritage preservation with innovative architectural solutions, making it a compelling case study in sensitive urban infill development.
