Completed in 2022, this museum and memorial facility was designed by Sato Mitsuhiko Architectural Design Office and Suzuki Hiroto Design Office. Located in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, the structure preserves the original schoolhouse damaged during the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami. The architects thoughtfully integrated preservation with new construction, creating a space that honors victims while serving as an educational resource.
