Meguro Yakumo no Nagaya is a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Japanese townhouse typology, completed in 2017 in Tokyo's Meguro ward. Designed by architect Yoko Takaike, this terrace house complex thoughtfully reinterprets the historic nagaya dwelling form for modern urban living. The project demonstrates how vernacular architectural traditions can be sensitively adapted to meet contemporary residential needs while maintaining spatial and material qualities that honor Japan's architectural heritage.
