Nakamura Tokichi Byodoin Store represents a contemporary interpretation of traditional Japanese tea culture through architecture. Completed in 2022, this commercial facility was designed by Tetsu Murayama and Ayako Kato of Mutoka Architects. Located in Uji, Kyoto, a region renowned for premium tea production, the building seamlessly integrates modern architectural principles with the heritage and aesthetics of its historic surroundings. The design thoughtfully balances commercial functionality with cultural sensitivity, creating a space that honors both the legacy of the Nakamura Tokichi brand and the architectural traditions of this UNESCO World Heritage area.
