Ota City Kyuuhaku Elementary School represents a significant achievement in seismic retrofitting and large-scale renovation completed in 1999. Located in Tatayama City, Gunma Prefecture, this educational facility was redesigned by the collaborative efforts of the Architectural and Urban Diagnosis Association alongside architects Masami Tanaka, Hiromitsu Iwamoto, Ryuzo Shiroe, and Hitoshi Miyazaki. The project successfully combined structural reinforcement with comprehensive modernization to meet contemporary educational standards while preserving the building's essential character, making it an exemplary case study in adaptive renovation for school architecture.
