Warakuan represents a remarkable preservation and relocation project completed in 2021 at Kyoto University of Art and Textile Fiber. Originally the Western-style residence of Katsutaro Inabata, this historic structure was meticulously relocated and restored by the university's renovation team in collaboration with Hashimoto Architectural and Landscape Design. The project exemplifies contemporary adaptive reuse practices, transforming a significant piece of early modern Japanese architecture into an active university facility. This sensitive intervention demonstrates how heritage buildings can be revitalized to serve educational purposes while maintaining architectural integrity and historical significance.
