Shimokitazawa Apartments+Blocks is a residential complex completed in 2010 in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, designed by acclaimed architects Kazuhiro Kojima and Kasuko Akamatsu of CAT. This project skillfully combines contemporary apartment living with traditional row house and terrace house typologies, creating a dynamic mixed-use residential environment. The design thoughtfully responds to the unique character of Shimokitazawa, a vibrant neighborhood known for its cultural richness and intimate streetscapes. The complex demonstrates innovative approaches to urban housing density while maintaining human-scale architecture and community-oriented spaces that strengthen the neighborhood's distinctive identity.
