Hamahirugao Sakate is a small-scale multi-functional facility completed in 2016 on Shodoshima island in Kagawa Prefecture. Designed by architect duo Asuki Onishi and Yuki Momota of O+H, this social education facility thoughtfully integrates community spaces for children, elderly residents, and intergenerational interaction. The design responds sensitively to the island's coastal context and local character. Through its innovative spatial configuration, the building demonstrates contemporary approaches to creating flexible public facilities that strengthen community bonds while respecting the unique cultural and environmental identity of this historic island location.
