Nishihara no Kaidan Nagaya is a contemporary residential project completed in 2021 in Shibuya, Tokyo. Designed by Manabi Okochi and Momosiro Goda of Interspace Architects, this terrace house complex skillfully reimagines the traditional Japanese nagaya typology for modern urban living. The structure features distinctive stepped terraces that create dynamic spatial relationships and optimize natural light penetration throughout the compact site. This project demonstrates thoughtful integration of vernacular architectural principles with contemporary design sensibilities, offering an innovative approach to dense residential development while respecting the neighborhood's established character.
