Shikoku Machino Eki Hayashi Residence is a contemporary adaptive reuse project completed in 2018 in Sukumo, Kochi Prefecture. Designed by renowned architect Makoto Furuya and his research team at Waseda University, alongside Hosoki Architectural Research Institute, this structure masterfully transforms a historic residence into a vibrant commercial and educational facility. The project exemplifies thoughtful preservation while serving the local community through mixed-use programming that honors the building's heritage while embracing modern functionality and sustainability principles.
