Yabuhara Shuku Nigiwai Plaza Shonan-kan is a multifunctional community facility completed in 2014 in Kiso County, Nagano Prefecture. Designed collaboratively by the Terauchi Mikiko Laboratory at Shinshu University and Yamada Architectural Design Studio, this building exemplifies thoughtful contemporary architecture that serves multiple purposes. The structure functions simultaneously as a social education facility, disability welfare center, and community gathering space, demonstrating how modern design can integrate accessibility with vibrant public engagement.
