Hinoe Studio is a distinctive cultural and arts venue nestled beneath the Keikyu railway viaduct in Yokohama's Naka ward, completed in 2008. This innovative exhibition space represents a creative urban regeneration project that transforms underutilized infrastructure into a vibrant cultural hub. Designed collaboratively by SALHAUS, Y-GSA Iida Yoshihiko Studio, and Yokohama National University's Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Design, the studio exemplifies contemporary Japanese adaptive reuse architecture. The project skillfully integrates the structural constraints of the viaduct into its spatial design, creating an inspiring environment for diverse cultural and artistic activities while revitalizing this previously underdeveloped urban area.
